Dear Mr. Lerner,
I was cleaning up some old paperwork today that I had lying around, and I came across a letter from November of last year in which you notified me that all photographic and fingerprint material collected by Peel Region Police during the time I was charged with assault causing bodily harm had been destroyed. I don't think I ever thanked you properly for all the help that provided me, so I wanted to write you this e-mail.
I still remember sitting in your office and speaking with you on the first day. You were the last of 10 lawyers that I'd been to visit regarding my case. You were up front from the beginning - promised nothing other than you would do your best for me, and you told me what the best and worst outcomes would be. You described yourself as a bulldog in the courtroom, and though I only saw you in action on the day my charges were withdrawn, you must have lived up to that self description because you resolved my case with the best possible outcome. You always answered my e-mails and calls in a timely fashion. You always kept me up-to-date with the matters of my case. After everything was resolved, you sent me official notices that my charges had been withdrawn (this was important, as my wife and I needed it for our immigration process), and finally, you requested that evidence against me be destroyed notified me when it had been.
My wife was a little skeptical about you. I asked her to trust me that I trusted you because I'd talked to the other lawyers alone; you were the first one she'd met. Ultimately, she said I was right about you. You did what you said you'd do (and then some), and your price was very reasonable.
I know you're busy so I won't take up anymore of your time. I just wanted to say thank you very much for helping me through this difficult period of my life. Looking back, it was easier than I thought it would be, and that is largely thanks to you.
So, Mr. Lerner, thank you very much for the time and energy you put into my case. I appreciate it very much. God forbid I'll ever be in that situation again, but if I do make another mistake, I know I can count on you to help me out in a bind. Thank you.
Sincerely,
R. A.
